Switching to WordPress

For the past few years I’ve been working with Drupal, and while I love it for large sites, it was obviously overkill for a simple blog like mine. The real reason I’m switching to WordPress, though, is spam. I’ve tried the Drupal spam module, I’ve tried captchas, I’ve laughed, I’ve cried. Now I’m moving to WordPress and hopefully I can kiss my spam problems goodbye. We’ll see…

I’m excited to start posting again and to actually be able to turn comments on! I’ll be getting things going with a few posts on integrating the Commons Navigator Framework into an RCP application.

    Hello.
    I wonder, what WordPress does that Drupal doesn’t to avoid SPAM? If CAPTCHA or approval queue didn’t help what are you counting on in WordPress?

    Dont’ get me wrong, I love Drupal. I just think it was overkill for what I was using it for.

    The Drupal spam module caught about 80% of the comment spam I recieved. amd I had to monitor the site often to clear out the viagra ads. Maybe I could have configured it to work better, but I’m looking for a more out of the box solution. Hopefully, the Akismat filtering will work better.

    As for captchas and approval queues, I just don’t like them because they seem like an extra barrier between bloggers and readers (your comment went to a queue by mistake…).
